The Mysteries of Dementia-Driven Wandering
(Source: NPR) - Wandering is a common occurrence for those in the middle to later stages of Alzheimer's disease. People stray from or outside their home for various reasons. They continue on their journey or become lost. Statistics indicate that sixty percent of people with Alzheimer's disease wander at some time during the course of their disease; 72% of those who wander once, wander again; and approximately half of those who are missing for more than 24 hours do not survive.


U.S. Urged to Compare Alzheimer's, ADD, Other Therapies
(Source: Reuters) - An Institute of Medicine committee urged the U.S. government on Tuesday to fund studies comparing treatments for Alzheimer's disease, attention deficit disorder and other conditions as part of a new effort to determine which strategies work best.
